We already killed the slop in our writing . The em dash, “delve,” “tapestry,” “in today’s fast-paced world” - the measured lexicon of words that spiked in published text the moment the models got loose on it. “Delve” alone rose about 1,500 percent in scientific abstracts between 2022 and 2024. These words are not wrong. They are tells. A reader sees three of them and stops trusting the page, even when the substance is fine.

🖋️ Just One Story From The Aftermath Of Maui

Maui was my home for many years - as was California - where ‘Pacific Palisades’, ‘Butte’, ‘Eaton’, ‘Sonoma’ and many many more fires peaked their havoc. The world watches for a few days - maybe weeks - and then moves on. The reality - is very different.

The famous Banyan tree is most certainly recovering - the rest - not so much. I will let you do your own ‘recovery’ searches for other areas.

I wouldn’t call Avi Ronen a ‘friend’, we met a few times on Maui, he being one of those musicians that call Maui their home. This is his post on Facebook.

This post has been sitting on my hard drive since late 2021 .. at the time, I wasn’t ready to publish, but my 5 years clicked through earlier this year and today I rediscovered the draft - so I guess it is time.

I wasn’t quite expecting to read this when I opened the link … Geoff Boyle – Cinematography commentary and other things

The headline seemed so innocent. So innocuous.

I have taken this as far as I can.
Euthanasia is now arranged.
I’ve had a great life, travelled all over the world.
Most important of all is the 45 years spent with Debz.
I could never have done it without her.
Now at the end she is a tower of strength and support.
I am so fortunate to live in a country that allows you to choose when the time is right for you.
It gets a little involved as they make sure it’s what you really want and that you’re not under any pressure.
Once they are convinced it’s fairly straightforward.
There’ll be an announcement on CML next week once it’s over.

I’ve always taken the 5 levels to be more a series of ongoing processes .. not necessarily that you achieve them … more to reflect the focus at a moment in time .. also the triangle pinnacle is misleading in that the work going on in there is likely inversely proportional to the shape’s area … and finally you are almost constantly working on multiple levels at the same time.

But that’s my take - might not be what Abraham meant?
