Understanding Great Britain, The UK and England
Nice guide to understanding the UK - in case you get confused by this one.
Two Highlights
English – 1] The language spoken by the British (but as in Scotland and Wales, not the only language). 2] The people who live in England. Someone from Scotland is not English. Someone from Wales is not English. Only someone from England is English.
Blighty – An older term for ‘Britain’ that evokes misty-eyed golden images of Britain. ‘Dear Old Blighty.’ Originated in India.

I first heard it nearly twenty years ago, bought the album and it has remained one of my ‘go to’ pieces in the music library ever since. Powerful. Forceful. Driving.
Delighted therefore to read the following in Spin.
.. to celebrate (the 20th anniversary), the English space-rock greats announced that they will play the album in its entirety at a show on November 7. To encapsulate the expansiveness of the album, the band will perform at Barbican Hall in London and be accompanied by a gospel choir and 15-piece orchestra made up of percussion, brass, and strings.Read All About It.

A Little History Of My Maui Music
I was in Maui on the Southside nearly ten years ago watching a subset of the Molinas family entertaining the 'grocks'. Out of the blue this young kid emerged and delivered a Ukulele solo like I had never heard.
I didn't know they were the Molinas family at the time, and so had no idea who Andrew was. BUT.
But, I wanted to find out. For some reason I didn't enquire on the day who these guys were, so it was later when I started to just ask around.
I described him to people and the general consensus was 'oh - you must have seen Vince Esquire'.
Which is how I got into Vince Esquire and his band, and also how I came to meet Shawn Michael - now back in LA - but definitely the best bass guitarist that you have never heard of.
Anyway, you can read all about Andrew and his family the other side of this link. and so glad to see another great Maui musician emerging.
🔗I usually like Brad Feld’s thinking but I definitely take issue with his conclusion to this piece.
I’d like to believe that in America, we’ll continue to be at the forefront of human society as we work through these issues.

Israel’s leading counter-culture rock musician Aviv Geffen returns with Blackfield IV, featuring Steven Wilson and other special guests.
