🙏🏼 The Engines - Thank You
First and foremost, my thanks to Manton, Sven, Vincent for the work they have done—and keep doing—in support of Micro.blog. And then beyond to the broader community - and what a great one it is.
Micro/Blog itself is quite simply, the best place to aggregate your distributed online presence to a single node and then federate back out. This, to me, is the secret sauce of the Micro.blog platform.
Aggregate → Curate → Syndicate

🛫🚂🚗 The Journey
I started with plain ‘out-of-the-box’ vanilla.
I moved onto different themes enabled through plugins.
I ran Tufte for a while - on the face of it - maybe mirrorig
Finally settling on Hitchens from Pete Moore who based the template on a Jeckyl design by Pat Drysburg.
… and it served me well - for many years. And then it didn’t.

Foundations shift. As my thinking evolved my brand crystallised, I needed more than a theme. I needed an entire visual language rooted in the φ ratio itself—a self-referential structure where the medium becomes the message. The Mats redesign was that transition: moving from inherited aesthetics to a deliberately constructed identity.
What you see now is the continuation of that story. PHILPIN, thoroughly reinvented through this redesign, is no longer borrowing structure—it’s defining it. The theme, the color palette, the spacing, the interaction patterns—all of it folds back on itself, referential and intentional.

Beyond the core platform, the community surrounding Micro.blog has shaped what you’re seeing. The Community continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible on a federated, independently-hosted publishing system.
