Just discovered 1440

Why 1440?

The printing press was invented around the year 1440, spreading knowledge to the masses and changing the course of history. More facts: In every day, there are 1,440 minutes. We’re here to make each one count.

Over the past couple of years I have increasingly disconnected from Galloway. Always used to like his insights and takes - but over time he seems to have become very blustery and grand standing. Sean Illing however? I put him up there with Sam Harris. So this one proved a conundrum. Sean won as he and Scott talked about the struggles men are facing today.

.. well worth it. No bluster. Considered. Thoughtful. AND IMHO Spot on.

Just shows how a show host really can shape how their guests come off. It’s definitely a skill.

Mathematicians have discovered a mind-blowing new kind of infinity.

ใ€ ๐Ÿ”— New Scientist at Apple News ใ€‘

Good grief, it was only in my last newsletter when I was talking about the eternal debate re Math(s) .. โ€˜Discovered or Inventedโ€™ and during the journey drifted over towards ‘infinity’ and Cantor and then for some reason changed course, though the point was more to do with โ€ฆ

A good PURE mathematician is exactly this kind of person. They like to look at something that is a known irrefutable fact - and then refute it.

Good news - no need to update my newsletter around โ€˜infinityโ€™.

Good idea. Should have thought about it myself โ€ฆ

Oh wait I did โ€” zero response, just like most of my posts.

Another Substack clash.

Literally back to back - these two pieces appeared. The first was from our old friend Dana talking about the AI Boom bust and in turn - a haircut

๐Ÿ”— When Will The AI Boom Bust? - by Dana F. Blankenhorn

And then right after that, another writer talking about what youโ€™ve taken to human interaction out of all customer interactions youโ€™re pretty much left with nothing.

๐Ÿ”— The unexpected opportunity with AI agents - designing for customer friction

I think Dana is giving you a real world example from today to support Jamies argument - as he was thinking about the future.

๐Ÿ”— Well now - that’s an idea - the new product from Arc, though I can’t help thinking that is a video for an audience of one.

๐Ÿ”— So your iPhone is now tuned to understand the best time to charge based on tariffs your power company will charge at specific times of day.

Itโ€™s not going to change your electric bill much today, but imagine this software running your house.

๐Ÿ”— Age-gating - Matt Mullenweg โ€ฆ at the OS layer?

Over in identity land I am constantly amazed how the world of tech keep on providing solutions that if they work, will only work with devices and computers.

Nobody ever talks about how this happens in person or on the phone.

๐Ÿ”— Manton Reece on crap Substack RSS feeds.

Personally not surprised. Isnโ€™t their whole schstick newsletters, email subscriptions and followers, so that the writer knows who is interested in what they produce and how many of them they are? Make the RSS feed too good would undermine all of that .. no?

Winning

In my health fight over the past four years, my oncologist ๐Ÿ”—Pepe Sasso had five rules that he laid on me at the very beginning and kept pushing me every time I saw him - including just a couple of weeks ago. One of two things that I maintain is ‘my secret’. ๐Ÿ”— This is the other.

  • Exercise

  • Diet/Nutrition to Maintain a Healthy Weight

  • Positive Mental Attitude (the sail of opportunity is always open)

  • Pain Management

  • Good Sleep and Good Sleep Patterns
