🎵 Song Of The Day : JW

… and no you didn’t miss my other ‘Song Of The Day’ posts. This is my first,

🔗 Judge Orders Biden Officials to Limit Contact With Social-Media Companies (WSJ via Apple News)

… because of course the prior guy didn’t do anything like that.

🔗 Fireworks … never thought of them like this.

@dave is not wrong.

🔗 IBM Red Hat Puts RHEL Source Behind Paywall

.. back in June apparently. Missed that at the time.

🔗 The (Mostly) Forgotten Battle For American Independence…in Yorkshire.

As a kid I visited Flamborough Head a lot. Family day trips and all that. But I still liked it enough to have also returned there as an adult - albeit a while back now.

… and yet I never knew this. #AlwaysLearning

🔗 English tourist accused of carving name in Colosseum says he did not realise its age.

The ignorance we breed is extraordinary.

It also means that if it was brand new … he sees no problem.

🎙️ A Few Thoughts About RFK Jr.

Sam Harris doing his thing and a spot on 15 minute analysis of why RFK won’t be on his show anytime soon.

I wish Petersen, Rogan, Marr et al gave as much thought to the guests on their shows. Of course, there is a consistency to the places he has appeared.

A lovely way of looking at things

📼 Derren Brown Ted Talk

It’s been around a while now (as has Derren), but no less extraordinary for that. If you watch and are disappointed, would love to know why.

📼A short video from The Browser Company.

Clever feature … and a great demo, but that’s not the point … instead it’s a short mind piece on what features you should add to your product and where you should spend your resources.

(A separate story sometime, but the folks at Readdle should watch this.)

🔗 People Hire Phone Bots to Torture Telemarketers (Apple News … but it makes me happy.)

🔗 Overnight shootings in Pennsylvania and Texas mar Fourth of July festivities.

I’m sorry .. What?

Mar?

To mar your 4th July festivities would be that it rained on your barbecue. Next they’ll be reporting about the ’inconvenience’.

I think Louisiana has a Dem as Governor and the rest are Rethuglicans. Just earlier today I referenced 🖇️ North Carolina sailing towards being a second Florida.

Hold that in your mind as you read that the 🔗 Decline in Budweiser Beer Sales has lead to the Closure of Two Bottle Factories in the South. … specifically the closures are in those two States. In that same article I read …

Munhall also said the closures may also be connected to a conservative boycott of Bud Light.

Which in turn got me to wondering how many conservatives in those two states helped impact those closures through the boycott are now directly jobless or will soon be suffering financially because of the inevitable knock on effect.

I think I might enter the entire Republican voting base for the Darwin Awards.

Seperately, it is increasingly clear that the Dems should just step back and watch the ‘alternative’ just self destruct.

Did I somehow miss Hover.com closing down ?

🔗 On the state of the web

I don’t know what’s going to come out of this moment but I do hope more people realize that human connections are still available out there. You can still set up your tiny quiet corner on the web, do your own things, and connect slowly with other people. You can still set up a forum dedicated to something you’re passionate about and create a community with 50 other people, even if Reddit turns to shit. Things can live on the web simply because enough people care about them and pour time and love into them. And that is what makes the web special.

Reminded me very much of What Is The Small Web

🔗 They Lied About Afghanistan. They Lied About Iraq. And They Are Lying About Ukraine.

Wasn’t the Russian military — because of poor morale, poor generalship, outdated weapons, desertions, a lack of ammunition that supposedly forced soldiers to fight with shovels, and severe supply shortages — supposed to collapse months ago? Wasn’t Putin supposed to be driven from power? Weren’t the sanctions supposed to plunge the ruble into a death spiral? Wasn’t the severing of the Russian banking system from SWIFT, the international money transfer system, supposed to cripple the Russian economy.

💬 Chris Hedges

Somewhere on this blog there is a link that connects to this.

If you think your HOA is overly prescriptive, if not downright authoritarian, try this on for size.
