🎵 That moment you realize that his really good ‘new’ stuff is now 30 years old, his ‘transitional band’ … who were absolutely awesome … was around 40 years ago and his first band (that he is probably best known for) was started over 50 years ago.

To remind you - a lot of the politicians in countries all over the world are attempting to destroy the Russian economy … I think they have it all wrong. Forget sanctions - we should have just set the UK’s Tory party on to the problem.

People: The Driver

I spotted this car parked near a Farmers Market - I walked on, wondering about the owner and what their story was.

The Driver

Returning a few hours later, I saw a couple of cars stopped at a junction. They weren’t moving and as I got closer saw an elderly man using his feet to propel him and his wheelchair backwards across this small, pot hole riven junction … up a small incline.

I walked over and asked him if he needed any help.

“No thanks. I’m fine.

Are you sure?

“No really. I’m ok … Thankyou.

Pushing harder with his feet for the final assault on the slope.

I waved to him ... ok then ... and kept going. He shouted out.

“Thankyou. Thankyou very much. I’m ok ... really."

I turned around to wav to see him by his car, wrestling with the door to get in, carefully watched by his lady friend, sitting patiently to one side of the road in her wheelchair.

I still don’t know the story of the car, nor it’s owner - but clearly, despite what the car might say to a passer by ... he was a proud, well mannered, graceful man. I really wish I knew his story.

🍳 Criticising Is The Easy Part.

Criticising is the easy part is a blog post that has been sat in my drafts folder for too long ….

I wouldn’t disagree with @manuelmoreale - you only have to highlight ‘the issue d’jour’ and

  • the story is getting more complicated
  • the public is defaulting to less and less attention to absorb the necessary information and
  • less and less time to weigh in on the issues and
  • increasingly the (popular) tools where such discourse can be had are focussed on shorter and shorter time spans.

… all while nothing is done at a country (let alone global) level to lay out a stall and agree the top level strategy.

Case in point … an old one that I was introduced to in my twenties …

If someone is guilty of a crime, do you sent them to prison to rehabilitate or punish? Whichever the answer results in two totally different looking penal systems with very little operational overlap. If we can’t agree on the top level strategy - we will never agree on the solutions.

And don’t get me started on how (in the US at least) - the people’s representatives are not representing the people - how else do you explain the break between politicians and people in subject areas like abortion.

There’s a lot of similarities between writing music and building websites ….

“Music making is like progressive enhancement in that you start with your drums (HTML), add the bass guitar (CSS), and then sprinkle screaming and synths and solos on top it all (Javascript).”

I just posted this on Substack Notes - click on through - or just read on. What do you thing I should do?

I tend to read and write long form articles on my iPad and randomly connect to feeds and write and respond to quick posts on the iPad and my iPhone. Until last week this meant that the Substack app sat on the iPad and not on the iPhone. Why not both? Because the Substack app doesn’t synch, so if I accidentally open Substack on the iPhone .. it downloads a pile of stuff that I have already triaged. Not a big deal … until Notes - which in my world is ‘short form’ I have no idea why Substack won’t enable synching in their app - but until they do - any suggestions?

I’m doing research on alien life, so I thought I’d start in America.

🔗 Paleblue USB Rechargeable Lithium Batteries.

Rechargeable batteries have been around for a while but charging blocks always seemed clunky and yet another lump of plastic you need to keep around and still never be able to find when you need it.

This looks like a good solution.

Any experiences?

Just dropped Jax off at the airport … heading back home …

“Heh Siri … play some random music.”

… and up comes this 🎵 (song whip)

Seriously? Siri is clearly tapping into something.
