Dear Call Centers,
We know you aren’t employing enough people, so please stop saying ‘due to a high level of call volume we can’t talk to you right now’ (maybe not those exact words - but that’s what you mean), why not just come right out with it …
“We don’t employ enough people to answer the phone because your call is not important to us.”
Alleged? I think they all are. Isn’t the question whether they should be punished?
Not only that, there is little commonality in their motivations.
The Guardian asks why are Americans being shot for knocking on the wrong door?
Good question, even as the article was being written, a third story emerges;
🔗 Woodlands Elite cheerleaders shot: Athlete Payton Washington hospitalized after 2 girls were shot.
(Apparently she got in the wrong car)

Settled for less than half of what was on the table … they should have called Saul.
🔗 Fox and Dominion settle for US$787.5m in defamation lawsuit over election lies.
🔗 Thousands fled to Mastodon after Musk bought Twitter. Are they still ‘tooting’?
I think there were quite a few more than ‘thousands’.
… and ‘fled’?
… and to answer the question - yes - with orders of magnitude more engagement.
I like Substack. I use Substack, though I have always felt that the ‘Hamish’ side of the show is very opinionated about what we as writers should be allowed to do.
Just listened to ‘the’ Chris Best/Nilay Patel interview. He came across, like Hamish, a nice chap but definitely out of his depth.
How can a store have so many furnace filters … and still not have the size you need?
I don’t care if an elected politician switches parties … BUT … when they do, it should force a by election.

Keeping American Shop Staff Employed
Trying to buy a six pack.
Long lines - so against my better judgement .. I jump over to the self-service check out.
Apparently I can’t self serve beer .. a lady had to come over … I thought to help … but apparently to tell me that I can’t do that.
Back to the lines.
One six pack … three people.
The ‘computer say no’ lady.
The cashier to ring me up.
The young bagger - who offered to bag my 6 pack … no … thankyou … are you sure?
And still the big food stores are earning record profits.
They should not settle. They should be dragged through the courts and held accountable.
🔗 Elon Musk reportedly planning to launch AI rival to ChatGPT maker.
Is this the same ElonMusk that signed that letter about slowing AI down?
“As a punishment for being the worst owner in sports–terrible teams, allegations of sexual harassment, and financial improprieties, Dan Snyder will sell the Commanders for more than any other sports team has ever been sold. Let that be a lesson to you.
💬 Dave Pell (I think)
The most compelling question regarding Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old National Guard airman who just got arrested for leaking classified documents to his gamer bros on a Discord server is how the hell a guy like this had access to the material and was able to share it so easily.
💬 Dave Pell
It was the first thing that I asked myself.
The second most compelling question is, well, wait, so knowingly taking classified documents to your home or resort and sharing them with anyone you want is a crime? Interesting.
💬 Dave Pell
Interesting indeed. 🍿
Contempt for the other tribe, rather than affection for one’s own, is now many Americans' animating passion.
💬 George Will
… so much to say … not going to bother.
