Inspired to finally for out my Feedland space today after reading @Dave ’s 🔗 doc

Simple instructions and it ‘just worked’ - so much to the point that I am happy to link to it from my 🖇️ Blog Navigation.

The link takes you to my 🔗 news feed which is a ‘river of news’ driven by my 🔗 subscriptions - early days yet but it’s a start.

The impetus was that Dave was also talking elsewhere about adding BlueSky feeds to the list. I tried it out - and added a couple of my own. I didn’t use the handy dandy ‘sub’ short cut that Dave demonstrated.

Would be great if I could edit the title - maybe you can, but not found out how yet.

// @andysylvester - because I know you are tracking this stuff.

Jax often tells me that I need hearing aids - but have to say I had NO issue very clearly hearing what Ibtihal Aboussad was saying at the ‘Microsoft 50’ Event. None at all. The fact that people are writing that they had no idea that she was protesting the war in Gaza suggests a few alternatives

  • they just weren’t listening because they don’t anyway
  • they block out women’s voices
  • they block out foreign accents
  • they have no idea that ‘something’ is going on in Gaza, so none of it made sense.
  • they need hearing aids more than me.

… I’m sure there are some other thoughts and will append and comment if they are suggested.

In a different thread @njr shared 🔗 this to which I responded …

Hats off to the Verge for not editing it out. Unlike pretty much any other media organisation in America would do. In fact is doing.

Beyond that quite a few others have suggested this was absolutely the wrong time and place to make such a protest Like on 🔗 Daring Fireball)

to which I respond;

  • If not then - then when?
  • If not there - then where?
Somewhere nice and quiet so nobody hears?
Yes it’s hard. Yes it wasn’t appropriate? It never is.

and, when John writes;

there’s a time and a place for everything, and Microsoft’s own 50th anniversary celebration was not the time or place for two insufferable self-involved showboats to make the event about them. Because that’s what this was. It was about them, personally. Not about Gaza or Israel.

going on to say

The place for righteous protests is in public, in the streets  - exactly as they are happening across the United States today.

.. the link takes you to a Guardian article about Tariffs - why not something related?

Trust me - there are plenty of demonstrations around the US against what Israel is doing - you just need to have been on the internet in the past couple of years. (Not so much by watching the telly).

But thanks to 🔗Wikipedia the protests are being logged - even if they are being ignored and even campaigned agains t by the usual douches.

Meanwhile a couple o’ bonus links

Gaza, Columbia University, Silencing people - it’s all connected.

CNN : A pro-Israel group says it gave US list of protesters to deport, drawing alarm from students’ supporters

Time to stop - for now. I need an editor!!!

I am very much liking the location / check in feature on the micro.social app. It has given me some ideas that are not so much about ‘checkins’ - but are related to ‘location’. Thank you.

There is an odd issue though @manton @gregmorris - any thoughts?

🖇️ In this post I noticed that the image used in the post is duplicated with two different file names in the media library.

The post itself uses the second image - so where has the first image come from and why?

Pretty sure this is happening because of the micro.social app - since this behaviour is also on the other post which came via micro.social using location.

Writing a long post and for some reason was doing it in the micro blog app … which just crashed. My heart stopped. Slowly and gently reopened - and thankfully it was there. Immediately copied and pasted it to Drafts that hasn’t crashed once for years - and that is an app that is just open all the time. Thank you @Agiletortoise

I finally looked at my nest egg and was shocked to see the new number. Even worse that the dollars in the account will buy even less as US currency loses its value as the flight to safety currency. It’s not a big surprise as the US behaves like a drunk Dunning-Kruger schoolyard bully. What is amazing, if you think about it, is that we aren’t having an emergency impeachment and trial to get him out of there.

Life, Death And Dennis Hopper by The Waterboys

ALWAYS loved The Waterboys. This made me sit up - an entire album dedicated to Dennis Hopper - where the music itself moves through the years of Hopper’s life.

Back in January …

🔗🎵Announcing “Life, Death, and Dennis Hopper” from The Waterboys | Sun Records

The announcement wasn’t very clear …

“Life, Death, and Dennis Hopper” releases from The Waterboys on April 4th.

Today is the 4th. Not here. I guess it will be tomorrow - when it is the 4th in America.
