📺 Crooks
Netflix. Dubbed. Caper. Not much more to say, except I did watch it all the way through.

August 24th 2021 was the last time I updated my ‘Using’ page … oh my … currently applying copious ‘strike out’ throughout.
I will update properly, but so interesting how much and how little has changed in the past three years.
I will keep the old one just for posterity.
🎈111/366 Ola Has Gone Lyft Was Never Here. I Refuse To Use Uber. Now What?
I have a fundamental objection to Uber. (You might have heard.)
Which is why down here in New Zealand, when one of those kind of pickups is needed I use Ola.
Make that ‘used to use’
They pulled out! Gone. No longer here. Removed themselves …
Chatting to a ‘Corporate Cabs Taxi Driver - who was doing the usual complaining about ‘Ride Share Companies’ (to be fair - I did prompt him) and I pointed out that IF there was an app I could go to and call up a real cab like I could a Lyft, Ola or MAYBE an Uber - it would make it a darn sight more convenient … and he very kindly referred me to an app called 🔗 Your Ride.
Brilliant I said. Will try it out.
I tried to try it.
App is not available on ‘my App Store’.
My App store is the U.S.A. store.
I have written to them.

I updated the base to include @ameripie and @jedda specifically.
While I was there - I found some peeps in my Feedbin that I had - but weren’t in the right folder - so fixed that and now the list is a bit longer. Discovering some additional anomalies;
@manton - Is there a way to make that list alphabetical ?
@simonwoods I have you - and I also have ‘TIL’ - but there are two different feeds?
@odd - I pulled what seems to be your feed - but these are your replies(?), whilst your real feed is here - raising in case you didn’t know.
Just to make it easier to check - this is a screen capture of the blogs in the system as of the weekend of 20/21 April. Proving it in alphabetical order. LMK if want to be added - or indeed taken off … all good.
🚧 Logged Blogs

🎈110/366 I think I broke the Internet - so stopping now.
I promise you - there IS land over there - I’ve even see it.

Not a big user of MicroBlog bookmarks - so a couple of months ago I went through what I had and brought it all down to zero.
Today - I dropped in there - wrong click I think - and there are a whole raft of bookmarks that were not there before. (All valid - nothing odd - other than they are there.)
Did something get triggered @manton ?
Josh Browder talking ..
Key message - Everybody needs their own AI Agent.
Fresh out is a short podcast with him talking to 🎙️ ‘Danny In The Valley’
I have this feeling that he might be at the vanguard of such an offering - and he is on our side.
I read something this past week about ‘feeds and posts’ - and I know ‘we’ do all know that the difference is there - but ‘we’ are also aware that it is not always understood … I think maybe @SimonWoods mentioned it recently? Anyway - I was about to reply with something I considered to be an excellent riposte and then stopped and deleted. My 🔗 ‘riposte’ was a reply - not a repost - and wondering if the meaning of the original use of the word that has been subsumed by modernity and partly explains the confusion?
I know I shared this when @gruber wrote it way back - but sharing again - as he just did - and a reminder from moi .. its not a matter of if they come after you - it is when - best be prepared.
🔗 Bob’s writing about Music and Musicians, but what he described has applicability to any new business launching itself onto the world.
I saw🔗 this in Visual Capitalist today.

No mention of New Zealand where a lot of people complain about the country’s debt, so I thought I might explore - and found this in Macro Trends.

And sure - while we are higher than historical - it isn’t unprecedented - even in the past twenty years. 2003 and 2012 clearly standing out from the crowd. (I wonder what was happening around the globe at that time - rhetorical folks .. and that’s the point - whatever Kiwi leaders might like to think, they are in the gravitational pull of ‘RoW’. That said, the country is clearly doing a lotte better than average.
Anyone have a nice OPML of micro blog feeds that they would care to share?
(Asking for a friend.)
When you sell a house, you pay a realtor, various service and inspections, possibly the tax man. Maybe an accountant and/ or lawyer … and and and … there is no question … you pay.
When you buy a house, it’s not dissimilar, you pay.
Need the services of a lawyer .. pay.
an accountant .. pay
buying ‘little things’ in stores … pay
big things, like a car, airline ticket? … pay
need a plumber, electrician, carpenter … pay
a ride from a to b … pay.
You get the picture … you … pay
Except for some reason people don’t really want to pay you for your writing, your music, your advice, your help, your network … all that is apparently on the ‘pay it forward’ basis.
🎈109/366 There IS a better way.
I see lots of posts these days on LinkedIn from recent ‘arrivals in the work force’, where the message is some version of ..
‘I am available .. if you need a python developer.’
I wonder if their request might be better served by ‘writing’
‘I am available .. if you need someone to solve your (x marks the spot) problem.
I, along with a few others have many problems. We have no idea if we need ‘python’ developers.

There is a real sense of frustration in Ukraine about a perceived double standard in US support for Israel. “The view among some is that if Britain, America, Jordan and all these other countries are willing to shoot down drones to help out Israel, why can’t they do something similar for us when we’re facing this all the time?”
… from Today’s Yesterday’s Guardian
It’s clear that there is a dickhead in charge over in the Middle East.
Who am I to disagree with Austin Kleon and in fact I still don’t .. but the conclusion to the article ends with a use case for why paper dictionaries .. which to this bear seems identical to the why online. What am I missing? 🔗 Source
