Frasier? Again?

I see Uber has finally made a profit - but still nobody is explaining why we need a global taxi / food delivery service.

Puts that $2.5 million electric sports car that Marques was testing the other day into perspective.

🪦 Farewell Mr Warnock, I am old enough to remember talk as to whether the ‘portable document format’ was going to become a defacto standard (it wasn’t a slam dunk) .. you did good.

Meanwhile - somewhere in The Guardian. (I think).

If you had hired as many different builders in the past five years as Britain has hired home secretaries, you would assume your house was deeply flawed. Yet the latest, Suella Braverman, one of four in that time, has managed 10 months under Rishi Sunak and is reportedly under pressure to be sacked. It is hard to imagine how a senior minister in a controversial department can operate when those around her think she is about to go. To put it mildly, the job should be held by someone with the authority to act. The habit of Boris Johnson and now Sunak of using cabinet jobs not as a reward for competence but in return for loyalty has been disastrous. The Home Office is not alone. In the past four years Britain has had six education secretaries and three transport secretaries. No wonder the British government is a mess.

This is actually the first time that tropical storm watches have been issued on the West Coast of the United States," said Elizabeth Adams, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in San Diego. Typically, when a tropical storm makes its way to the southwestern U.S., it has severely dissipated, weakening to a depression or storm remnants, she said.
But not this time.

Hang onto your hats. In all senses of the expression.

It’s a start …

The problem with the metaverse … (Is that still a thing?) (What is it these days?) … is that it is ‘singular’. Companies pushing for it think that they are delivering it. They are not. They are delivering access to their own particular online Universe.

The Metaverse requires interoperability, much like the fediverse … so that one account … somewhere .. identifies you and then you can use that account to jump around the metaverse wherever and whenever you wish.

The track record of those companies on the internet is ‘not good’ … at best through to ‘appalling’ … and onto .. well, this is a family show .., so will leave it to your imagination as to how bad it gets!

When you look at the rampant attempts at lock-in on the web - I really have little hope for those organizations suddenly seeing the light and offering interoperability in the ‘metaverse’.

David Merfield and Blot Once More Deliver. Simple Solution - but QUITE BRILLIANT

Blot Delivers. Again.

🖇️ Back in 2020 I wrote this. Then just a few days ago 🔗 I asked again … this time I also pinged David.

The nub?

How it would be really useful when on a public page on a blot site - e.g. this one - to be able to have a single click that takes you to the file in dropbox - which you could then edit and save, so updating the site.

The current method is to take note of whatever the content is - open up dropbox and navigate to the file, which may - or may not - be as easy as it sounds. For me - because of how I structured my dropbox - it is generally a pain in the neck.

No More.

Thanks to David I know have a bookmark that he wrote for me.

Now I can click on that book mark and voila - there is the dropbox file.

Let me know if you would like the code.

The Copenhagen restaurant, which charges 3,950 Danish kroner (£453) per person for a tasting menu of mostly foraged vegetables, will next month collaborate with a Mexican restaurant in Marylebone and a cocktail bar in Sea Containers House on the South Bank.

Why is it taking this ‘pop up’ approach? Well apparently it has closed. No word whether close to a thousand pounds for ‘dinner for two’ sans beverages was a contributory factor.

… well, they could hardly be worse - if I am any measure.
