Trying to work out why Day 23 is not showing up - I checked, the category is correctly checked.

A Draw!

Strolling passed a second hand book store in Auckland and spotted this …

Need to go check whether I still have my copy from when I was a student.

Day 25: ritual

Being English and currently based in New Zealand, the ritual of Thanksgiving is not on my calendar for this year.

But if it is for you - may I take this moment and wish you a ‘Happy Thanksgiving’.

Love Eno and Jean Michel - so HAD to listen to this (Apple Music link). I try not to share Apple specific links to music but in this case, that is precisely the point. I am listening to it on my computer - no extra special speakers … and oh my.

Put the actual music aside (which is dependent on your own particular taste) - it’s the sound, the mix, the engineering .

Two Chaps With Things On Their Mind

‘Two chaps’ launched this newsletter as a companion piece to their blog three years ago. (A step too far?) Two issues later they even closed the blog. (This is the archive - apologies formatting seems to be ‘munted')

Chatting the other day and well. Once more with feeling?

🎥 Slumberland, 2022 - ★★★★

Totally unexpected delightful movie.

“Like having a child, you forget the pain of having that child three months later, a year later. We want to be in a dream business.”

💬 Doug Leone

Doug’s knowledge of childbirth can only be observation. Not experience.

Just like Sequoia’s pain after the FTX fallout?

Listening Brands was published late 2015. We had regionally based (and placed) ads then.

I guess he is talking about fully personalized ads, where I see an ad for music, and my neighbour sees one for sport. That still isn’t here on TV and won’t be for a while. If ever.

What You Remember Isn't Always What Happened.

Some context to this post, because it really isn’t just about memory (that’s the back story). It is really setting the scene for what I think will be a series of posts that I will link to from here that is exploring whether Geoffrey Moore’s chasm thinking can be applied to a country. Still not sure it can - but we will see as the journey unfolds.

Day 24: retain

My memory is clearly failing on the ‘retain’ front … it was only seeing @pimoore’s entry for ‘yesterday (time zones - what you going to do?) that made me realize I hadn’t done today’s!

I was given Good Pop, Bad Pop by Jarvis Cocker 📚for my birthday - which was months ago. I can finally start it, now that Strike is struck off.

Finished: Troubled Blood (Cormoran Strike, #5) by Robert Galbraith 📚

‘FINALLY’ … It might seem like one book - in fact it is bound like one - but when you hit quad pages - someone should call an editor.

Is it me or has google docs just added craft like functionality?

In Google type ‘@’ and a set of options appear.

In Craft type ‘/’ and a set of options appear.

Just stumbled across this @gapingvoid cartoon featuring @dave :)

Day 23: update

The timing of the daily challenge update has been a lot better after the time zone changes were accounted for. Thankyou.

I’ve just ‘finished’ - a VERY loose term … the new home page for Philpin.com. It is an attempt to bring together all the various threads of my online presence into a single gateway.

It’s not all there yet. But - will it ever be?
