Tim Cook shows off ‘Chronicles of San Francisco’ mural

Tim called it a ‘moving masterpiece’ … it’s moving … and moving … if you know what I mean.

Go look!

I wonder why restaurants, bars et al feel it important to remind their employees to wash their hands ‘after’ but not their customers?

Happy Birthday To My Domain.

It was twenty years ago today that … Philpin.com was registered.

**Happy Birthday 'Philpin.com'**

It’s been through many transitions since those early days … the hosting company has changed three times, the software that runs there has changed even more, but it basically became a WordPress site in 2006 .. the year the domain moved to Siteground.

1999 predates my move into the world of the Mac that happened in the December of 2001 (that’s a different story) … tentatively to begin with … ‘doze completely abandoned three years later.

Of course 2001 is also the year that Douglas Adams passed away … May 25th to be specific … and so Philpin.com shares its birthday with International Towel Day

Over the years, other domains have distracted me from time to time and despite it being a WordPress site, it has never been its own blog. Sure it has on occasions been the place where feeds all get directed to, but in anticipation of today, I killed all that a week ago.

Today, Philpin.com is just three pages. I am slowly building it up again, restoring it to its ‘former glory’ and the heart of my online activity.

Have Bartenders on Mull lost the plot?

Friend, on the Isle of Mull: May I have a ‘White-tail’ (Mull’s 1st and only gin).

Bartender: “We have over 30 gins and you ask me for the one we haven’t got!”.

Friend: “But it’s the Mull gin!”

Bartender: No words. Shrugs.

How refreshing … they get hit … they tell people and advise what to do.

He made a lovely house for me, our family, our friends … and I made it our home.

lovely sentiment as I earwig a conversation on the next table. Heart warming conversation … kind of want to join in!

But I think that might be weird.

I’ve known Ed Kressy for 3 years and can’t say enough good things about him.

Today he was featured in the San Francisco Chronicle:

More On Brian Warren's New Page.

Daniel Jalkut talking about Brian Warren’s Mac Open Web and if you want to see what he is talking about go here

I agree with Daniel - it’s a nice list. It might not have everything you think should be on the list, but that’s ok - because all you need to do is email Brian with what is missing - and if it ‘fits’ - the product gets added. And added to it has been … almost twice as many things listed now than when I first saw the list a week ago.

I just counted. I have 16 of those apps running somewhere on my machines/devices … and I can now quickly spot ‘indie compliant’ alternatives for things I have that aren’t there.

I thought Feedly should be listed, but Brian explained why he thought it shouldn’t be there …

“I don’t think Feedly would fit. Sure, it’s a web-focused service, no real proprietary formats, but it does require you use their app on their server.”

Meanwhile, Flickr is on the list. I wasn’t aware that you could use different apps to talk to the Flickr servers … you see how much you can learn?

I also think it would be useful for a link to be added at Indieweb.org - another great resource if you are thinking of dipping your feet into this burgeoning movement.

Bottom line - great idea and nicely done.

You burn a pile of stuff supposedly worth $6million and 3 years later, you think wait, I’m broke, I’ll make a movie about burning the stuff. Got It.
