Spot On …. and delighted to say that I am working with one such company that is working in the world of vision.

Sound like our time has come! (To borrow from Victor).

More Gaping Void

Last week I was one of hundreds that hit the pavements and canvassed over 4 days in Stanislaus County to help Josh Harder (D) beat 4 termer Jeff Denham (R).

Delighted to report that Josh won.

Yes - another long one, but now I can say that I have met a congressman!

Observation re blot cross posting to micro blog - sometimes it is just some words … sometimes a link appears aswell …. and it seems that the difference is all to do with whether the post has some text at the beginning .. the experiments continue.

Micro Bloggers I have captured in my Mastodon list … there will be a lot more … but before I spend time adding them, wrestling with how to make that list available to others. I have a feeling that is currently a step too far for mastodon.

The Modern Talent Supply Chain.

“The Brightfield team has earned a privileged position as the trusted steward to leading buyers, sellers and intermediaries in the modern talent supply chain …..

So now we know how Brightfield sees people … cogs in their supply chain .

A new micro blog community resource - this one around mastodon ….. I have started a micro blogger list on social.mastadon … hope that link works ….

Every now and then my desktop loses files if I am using stacks, Restarting finder OR toggle ‘use stacks’ in the context menu fixes the problem.

Anyone else see that?

Just came across this as I have been purging my social sites and consolidating ….. It still holds true.

The Art Institute of Chicago just added 50,000 images to a free online resource (via Kottke) so I in turn added the resource to my listly of free photo resources … enjoy

Another one to watch in the ongoing argument re data, who owns it and what rights the authorities have to it.

Woman remotely wipes phone in evidence after shooting

You have a phone. The police take it off you. You are sent home. You remotely wipe the phone.

Legal?

There is this thing called the glass cliff …

”So what, exactly, do so many people have against Nancy Pelosi? Are we really so blind to this old familiar landscape? A woman can serve in Congress and remain popular so long as she is not perceived as smart, powerful and effective. It is doubtful anyone would have any complaint about Nancy Pelosi but for one thing: that she is a woman.”

Get the hell off Nancy Pelosi’s back

Hello Mastodon.Social (twice - I think) … in the hope I am going to make it more social !

Let’s see.

Eleven, Eleven, Eleven, Eleven

The First World War officially ended 100 years ago today … November 11, 1918. More than 16 million people were killed, 8 million of them ‘civilians’.

And then just 21 years later … WW2 broke out. But that is a different story.

100 years ago today is a fascinating site that gives you a day by day summary of The Great War.

Meanwhile, Yo Yo Ma performing at WWI Armistice Ceremonies:

and The Guardian writing about ‘They Shall Not Grow Old’

WW2 broke out just 21 years after the end of WW1. That’s like a major war ending in 1997 and a second one starting this year.

Here’s hoping (though we probably need to do more than ‘hope’) that WW3 is not just around the corner - because sometimes I wonder. And I think senior world leaders also ask …

“Patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism,” the French president said, according to a translation of his remarks. “Nationalism is a betrayal of patriotism. By saying our interests first, who cares about the others, we erase what a nation holds dearest, what gives it life, what makes it great and what is essential: its moral values.”

President Emmanuel Macron

Trump continues to be a global disgrace, and increasingly a major threat to world peace and stability.
