📺 A Man In Full

It was only when I got to the end that I discovered it was a series that emerged from a Tom Wolfe novel. This is no ‘Bonfire’ though. Jeff did a good job - but really, not much of a story. The only surprise was the ending. No spoilers - but it wasn’t what I expected - but now you know it is Wolfe - maybe it will be?

🎥 Confess, Fletch, 2022 - ★★★½

I liked Chevy's all those years ago and Mr Hamm did a good job and to the spirit. Put it in the queue - it might appeal one day.

🎥 Page Eight, 2011 - ★★★½

I love Bill Nighy - so I couldn’t give it 3 1/2 (except I could). Not a bad movie by any means - although Bill does seem to have one character that appears in many disparate movies. It’s 13 years old - no idea how I missed it when it came out - except maybe because it is missable? Only for the ardent Nighy fan.

🔗 Protests, Then and Now

I highlighted too much to even start to choose a great quote. Just read the article .. talking the ‘differalities’ of the 60s to today. Written by a 75 year old Vietnam vet who was awarded the a Purple Heart and came back and joined the peace movement.

🎈128/366 Cards Played

Rafah’s fate hung in the balance on Monday after Hamas said it had accepted a ceasefire-for-hostage deal but Israel responded skeptically and carried out night airstrikes on Gaza’s southernmost city.

… whatever happens now - whatever is said - why on earth would Hamas believe anything being said.

My mum used to tell me that what you say is not important - it is how you act.

At the beginning of the year I had grand plans for this series. A daily long-form post about something that was rattling my brain that day. And then life. For a while, I was even just dropping markers - to revisit. I came to realise that part of the problem was the complexity of the structure for each post - so that went away. Simplicity really is rather nice. As I write on 240413, I am now going back and filling in the gaps. PLUS - unless something strikes me immediately, I will not classify until the end of the day and go back to move one of the posts of the day into the 366. Also - if you are wondering how I have update the words at the bottom of over 100 posts at a stroke, well - THANK YOU Andy Sylvester and his Glossary plugin.

🎈126/366 I know @dave is a fan of Andrew Hickey - me too. No time to listen to them all, but when you do - superb. Absolutely superb.

🔗🎙️ Sad to see this in my stream .. disgusted even. Got to say, I thought he was a better person than I could ever have been)

Meanwhile - let’s see what happens - and if it doesn’t, we really need to rally round and make sure it does.

Not subscribed to this podcast - but loaded a few that caught my eye after Mike Maples called them out … just spotted the length .. I don’t have time? How does anyone?

Excellent point from Don.

On a Substack today I read a restaurant reviewer talking about people complaining that some food had ‘too much flavor’

The other day, Rick Beato going on about people ( including his own family ) not understanding him when he said something was ‘out of tune’. In fact he was so flummoxed that he talked to others to make sure this was a real thing. Seemingly it is - because he then went on to explain what it means!

Not come across these twerps myself - thankfully - but seriously .. and these same people are probably voters .. somewhere.

👁️ I am of the opinion that if you’re too scared to drive this road - you shouldn’t be licensed for any road. What say you?

📺 Baby Reindeer ★★★★

Not for the light hearted. Not for everyone - but loved it.

📽️ I have been watching ‘Sugar’ - and impressed throughout. Great job. Until last night - the final episode - and I was so upset. LIKE - DUH - we all knew that - but what about everything else? It was all so up in the air. VERY disappointed.

Today I go an alert that Episode 7 was coming May 10th

🤦‍♂️ … of course the bloody thing hadn’t finished - they are doing the one a week drop thing!

🔗 😂 Letters ‘by’ Shaun Usher

Funny, worth a click through - unless you don’t think this is funny …

Last weekend, the drive up to London was improved by listening to a Sherlock Holmes audiobook on the car’s CD player. I was amused by my inability to follow the plot as closely as I would have liked, and put this down to middle age. It was only when I arrived at my destination that I realised the CD player was on “shuffle” mode.

🎈125/366 I got a new gizmo yesterday - and all happy that it had USBC charging … to get home, unbox and find that the provide charging cable had USBC at one end and USBA at the other.
