My original 'S and M' post on LinkedIN (more for posterity than anything.
I have been in and around sales and marketing for a long time and this was a problem when I started in business and has never gone away … isn’t that sad? Then again most of the problems in business have been around since I started … were complained about then and are still around now. (No matter how many people on the wings sell their books, run their workshops and layer in their consultants).
There are a few issues around alignment of ‘disciple 1 and discipline 2’ and it starts at the top with all the MVV mumbo jumbo … not the need for them, but the lack of passion and meaning of same … and if you can’t get it right at the top, then by the time it gets to the individual … the message has twisted and morphed into something unrecognizable.

I could go on … maybe I will one day, but for now .. Customers .. You mention them at the end. What if we abandoned ’S and M’ (intentional pun) and simply had a customer team. And how great would it be if leadership laid out what it is, and what we are doing and then stuck with it. With unwavering focus. No squirrels allowed. (No matter what the promise of revenue, profit, put is-on the map, opens a new business channel, <insert your own reason>
