The ‘X’ in the CXO title often seems to stand for ‘stuff we don’t do, don’t understand and would rather someone else handle. (Yes - slight tongue in cheek) and ‘people’ are hard - but so is ‘information’ and ‘technology’ - both of which line management often assume is someone else’s job - and once you start down that slippery slope - the final step is abdication.
