If all the โliesโ that people like Cheney are accused of spreading โฆ why donโt the accused just sue?
Looking at you.
Until they do - I am with the accuser.
And when they do - they need to win.
And IF they win - I will then consider the accusation.
Philip Brewer If you're a public figure in the U.S., you can't sue (well, you can sue, but you can't win) if someone spreads lies about you, unless you can prove that they did it with "malice" (intending to harm you) or with "reckless disregard for the truth," and both of those bars have been set very high: Basically, the person who is suing needs to prove that the liar knew he was lying, and was doing it intending to harm you. That's probably often true, but it's so hard to prove, your lawyer will tell you not to bother.
Roger Wm. Bennett @philipbrewer You're so spot-on I had to go look at your profile to see if were, or ever had been, a lawyer.
๐ฌ John Philpin @philipbrewer yes - i kind of knew that - very different to the UK - but i really am just so fed up with it all.
I concur with @ReaderJohn 's assessment of your comment - wonderfully expressed.
