🖋️ The Story That Can't Decide What It's Lying About
🔗 From The Economist’s World in Brief Today
OpenAI said that GPT‑5.6 Sol, a frontier model, and another unreleased model hacked into a software company’s system without being told to do so. The lab said the models escaped its testing environment, went online and stole login credentials for Hugging Face, an AI platform. Hugging Face said that it used a Chinese model to defend itself because the guardrails on American models made them useless

Let me get this straight …
-
An American model broke the law (They did. Imagine if that was a hacker teenager in their bedroom. )
-
A Chinese model was used to defend Hugging Face - because “the guard rails on American models made them useless”
-
and yet - somehow the AI hack ‘worked’.
Tell me again how the Chinese model defending Hugging Face worked?
AND - if you dive even more deeply into the story you quickly realise that it has contradiction (so many contradictions - and so far no contractions) - ‘all the way down’.
