A little over a week ago - I threw out 🖇️ this little billy do onto my blog and thought nothing of it. To save you the click through I was just pointing out some internet speeds I was experiencing - and asked what my response should be.
Here on MicroBlog I got 4 comments over the next 24 hours. I dunno - par for the course?
Now - through the power of Micro.Blog - these posts are also syndicated to BlueSky, Mastodon and Threads.
On BlueSky
(185 followers) after 6 days … Crickets
On Mastodon
(275 followers) after 6 days … apart from 1 ‘like’ … again, Crickets
And on Threads
(158 followers) after 6 days … holy hell! … 809 likes, 346 comments and over 55,000 total views …
All of this definitely not to say ‘look at me’ and all about ‘WTF’ .. and what actually makes people tick. I don’t do twitter - but when I did - and generally on any of these sites - if I hit double digits - I am eternally surprised. This Threads thing actually delivered 2 orders of magnitude more comments than the likes I would typically achieve.
Needless to say, I have not even tried to read - much less replied to - the 336 comments - but as I watched the thing spiral up - it was interesting to see it take a life of its own.
Questions
So many - that I don’t know where to start - so I won’t. Just observing.
