A long time ago I watched a Ted Talk where the female presenter told a story about the ‘ups and downs’ of life. I thought it was so good I wanted to save it. I clearly did not. It has always frustrated me because I often wanted to share it and I couldn’t, so I was delighted to see this post in my morning feed.
It’s about that very story as told by Alan Watts.

… which is a painting my mum bought when we lived in Singapore and came back to the UK with us - before I took it to the USA.

That’s it. No profound conclusion. No ‘meaning of life’. Just posting this here for posterity … finally having the story that had eluded me for so long and tangentially reminding me of my mum - albeit obliquely. But that’s life right?
