**Related thought **…Marketing is so badly misunderstood in the land of organisations that despite having lived there off and on in the course of my journey through life, they are generally people who don’t have the first clue of what the business is about - and if you don’t understand that - then how the hell can you market it?
MarCom people are particularly problematic - and I have run MarCom teams - I know.
The only people lower on the organisational totem pole would be HR. I have never directly run HR - and just like with Marcom/Marketing - there are definitely exceptions.
Bad rap? It is well deserved.
It’s the failure of these people that has allowed pretty much any other person in a business to think that they can do it better.
They often can - still might not be a good job though.
